Oregon nurses use British technique to cut waste, improve care by Nick Budnick, The Orgeonian.

The experiment began May 2010, when Providence Portland, Oregon Health & Science UniversityTuality Community Hospital and St. Charles Health Systemin Central Oregon adopted a program from the British National Health Service. It's loosely based on efficiency techniques from Japanese auto manufacturers, called "lean" production.

Only this was designed by nurses, for nurses, led by nurses. Care Oregon, a service for Oregon Health Plan members, introduced the practices in partnership with the Oregon Nurses Association and other groups.
