Youthful Economic Struggles Suggest More Humility Later

Generational differences in narcissism may be linked to economic conditions, a new report in Psychological Science suggests. Surveys and questionnaires given to 1,572 people born from 1948 and 1994 indicated that those who were 18 to 25 years old during recessions were less likely to have narcissistic personality traits as older adults. Researchers suggest that the experience of being unemployed, underemployed and underpaid during early adulthood  made people less likely to an inflated sense of entitlement.
