Marketers Merge Health, Fashion and High Tech

VSP, the nation's biggest optical health insurance provider, has struck a deal with Google to offer subsidized frames and prescription lenses for Google Glass, the Internet connected eyewear. A New York Times story by Claire Cain Miller reports that the deal could make wearable electronics, which tech analysts call the next wave of computing, more affordable and accessible to consumers. Further, the story says, the agreement opens the way to increasing cooperation between the health care and consumer electronics industries. The story quotes electronics analyst J.P. Gownder as saying that could mean more people wearing and ingesting electronic devices, and more people having them embedded in a tooth or tattooed on skin.
