 Inspiration, Improvement, Progress:

All Fine, but People Need Fun Too

Interconnectedness brings more than technological progress.   Fun, even in poor countries, is a profound human need, Manu Joseph, an editor and novelist, writes in an OpEd piece in The New York Times. He adds, "Quality of life is as much an assortment of happy frivolities as it is the bare essentials of survival.” Joseph asserts that social media isn't just a source of education, better financial advice and social advocacy. "The enchantment of the Internet is that it's a lot of fun,” he writes. And entertainment isn't just a byproduct of technological    progress, sometimes good things happen as a result of "people setting out in pursuit of joy.” Read Joseph's essay here.
