New company researches powerful people and their connections

A start-up company called Relationship Science, bankrolled by Wall Street heavy weights that include Henry R. Kravis, Ronald O. Perlman and Andrew Tisch, is assembling what it hopes will be the ultimate business Who's Who. A staff of more than 800 people, most of them in India, is collecting vast quantities of publicly available information on executives, leaders, and power brokers in corporate America. Information includes names of spouses and children, political donations and charity work. For a $3,000 annual fee, researchers can discover whether they have any connections to a powerful person—say a friend of a friend or a mutual affiliation—and learn whether the tie is defined as strong, average or weak.
