Obesity, along with related diseases and health care costs, are on course to increase dramatically in every state in the country over the next 20 years, according to F as in Fat: How Obesity Threatens America's Future 2012, a report released by Trust for America's Health (TFAH) and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). CNN reports that health care costs will balloon along with the population's excess fat. And Wall Street Journal tech reporter Christopher Weaver describes troubles for obese patients: too much tissue for imaging equipment to penetrate, and for surgeons to cut through. Hospitals have to buy expxensive new equipment to support weight of extremely heavy patients.
