...the human brain is fundamentally a pattern-forming self-organized system governed by nonlinear dynamical laws.

Emergent Technology-enabled Behavior Change Interventions for Complex clinical Settings
Guests: Neal Kaufman and Adam Kaufman

Neal Kaufman, M.D., M.P.H., and Adam Kaufman, Ph.D. will discuss how their company (DPS Health www.dpshealth.com ) designs, develops, implements and evaluates internet and cell phone-based behavior change interventions. Derived from research-based face-to-face interventions, DPS Health programs are used in a variety of clinical settings in the U.S. and Canada, with similar outcomes at a fraction of the cost of the original approaches. The presentation will address:

· How the DPS Health patent-pending Behavior Change Suite™ platform, coupled with using the Agile software development approach, allows the emergence of technology-based interventions that are flexible yet structured, and able to be personalized based on the user's characteristics, performance and over time;
· How to help early adopters implement technology-enabled interventions into their complex clinical settings; and
· How to evaluate evolving technology-based clinical interventions, especially under conditions of non-randomized assignment.

communities, organizations, and our natural environment
