Guts, Grace and Pluck: The Extraordinary Resilience of Nurse Leadership
Guests: Elle Allison-Napolitano and Daniel Pesut
Are you a super resilient leader? In times of disruptive change (maybe the present?) are you able to grow stronger in the face of adversity, help yourself and others to transform negative experiences into positive ones and foster a resilient organization? Sometimes, adversity brings out our best qualities and strengthens our resolve.
Elle and Daniel will share what they learned from their conversations with resilient nurse leaders, and how that can translate into strategies and practices we can all learn. The stories and good ideas they discovered are captured in their recent book,Bounce Forward: The Extraordinary Resilience of Nurse Leadership.

Elle Allison-Napolitano, PhD earned her PhD in Organizational Learning from the University of New Mexico, where she researched the nature of wisdom in nurses who were nominated for being wise. Drawing from diverse fields of study such as the wisdom sciences, post-traumatic growth, transformational leadership, behavioral economics, and adaptive change theory, Allison-Napolitano takes the evidence base for resilience, post traumatic growth, and wisdom and translates it into strategies and practices for leaders.
In 2006, Elle founded Wisdom Out, through which she continues to research, write, and speak on wisdom, leadership and leadership resilience. Elle is a member of the National Speaker’s Association and the Society for Organizational Learning. She has authored several articles and books on resilience and leadership and she offers customized workshops, leadership academies, and keynotes—all of which she intertwines with stories of real leaders who face change and adversity with pluck, grace, and a wicked sense of humor that brings them a sense of renewal and joy.
