Topic: New Skills and Structures for New Ways of Working Together
Guest: Dov Pollack
Healthcare is changing rapidly. The Affordable Care Act brings new patients and changes in reimbursement. Scientific research is bringing new treatments and therapies. Increase in complexity is creating the need for more collaboration and, sometimes, the need for new organizational structures. What is your organization doing to learn, change and thrive?
Dov Pollack, BA,earned his degree in Political Philosophy from Kenyon College, and is an expert in Jungian Typology. For the past three years, he has been the Senior Learning Consultant at Hill Physicians Medical Group, the largest independent Physicians Association in Northern California. In this role he worked with a geographically diffuse group of independent physician leaders and used Liberating Structures to build them into a social network of learning that harnessed their best ideas, and sustained their momentum through once a month conference calls and quarterly meetings.
Drawing on his knowledge and experience in brain science, complexity, design thinking, and transformational leadership he led the management of multiple projects to support the successful implementation of a new nationally recognized Accountable Care Organization (ACO). The ACO covers 40,000 members and was a partnership of Northern California's largest Independent Physician Association, third largest Health Plan, and largest not-for-profit hospital chain. Dov used Design Thinking and Relational Coordination to build a social network of learning between nurses from two distinct cultures, the hospital and the HMO.
Currently, he is a Client Engagement and Strategy Manager at Future State, a boutique consulting firm in the Bay Area. Dov commented, "In my work doing transformational change I am excited to stand at the crossroads between traditional management consulting and the human potential movement. I see my job as helping companies become more meaningful, purposeful, connected and collaborative. I am drawn to this work because I believe passionately that our ability to work together in groups will determine the future of the planet.”
Dov will join the call to share his experience leading innovation and change in healthcare. Please bring your own experience and add your voice to the conversation.
