Working with Returning Soldiers: A Failure Story with Judah Pollack

MP3 File

"In Rome, the Field of Mars was outside the walls of the city.”
This observation from ancient times captures how the field of battle is separate from civilized life. For soldiers, traveling between battlefield and home can be a perilous journey.

Judah Pollack is a writer and presenter specializing in leadership, culture change and Jungian soul work. He has been an award winning journalist, a sous chef and independent film maker. He was fired as a bellman but hired by the Army to present to Generals about the future. He is currently co-authoring a book with Ori Brafman and working with the US Army to design programs to help soldiers integrate their war experiences.

Judah will share his story of how poor timing of some integration work with soldiers gave him a deeper look at how perilous the journey can be, and a deeper understanding of what is needed. He will talk aboutmaking room for rage and scars and moments of transcendence, and how he is learning to create space for reflection and deeply listen to stories.

"Words, frames, and an ear to listen.
These are the swords we use to slay the stories that are our dragons.”

Judah Pollack
