In 2008, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) began a study of the future of nursing and proposed an action-oriented blueprint for advancing the work of the profession. The four key messages were: Nurses should practice to the full extent of their education and training; an improved nursing education system would promote seamless academic progression; nurses should be full partners with physicians and other health professionals in redesigning health care; and better data collection and information infrastructure are needed to advance these goals.

Following on the September call with Liana Orsolini-Hain and the October call with William E Smith, Cynthia Hornberger, and Dan Pesut, Part III of the PlexusCalls special series on the future of nursing will feature Phyllis Beck Kritek on how best to influence one's own personal style, choice and decision making in regard to moving the future of nursing agenda ahead. Kritek is a nationally and internationally known nurse scholar, writer, speaker, and consultant on conflict resolution, organizational development, leadership development, gender and diversity communications, generational relationships, and globalization. Kritek is also the co-author of Change Leadership in Nursing: How Change Occurs in a Complex Hospital System.

All calls will be recorded and available at plexusinstitute.org in the Nursing Learning Group and on the PlexusCalls page.
